Greensboro Neighborhood Guide: Starmount Forest

A few minutes west of downtown Greensboro, you’ll nd a community called Starmount Forest that has all the amenities you could ever ask for – I mean literally! I’ve got 2 words for you – FRIENDLYCENTER! Shopping, entertainment, bowling, moviet heaters, comedy clubs and endless places to dine!

A highlight of this impressive community is the diversity of the homes! Most homes in this community are Cape Cod or Ranch style built between the 1930’s all the way up to the 1990’s. Many of the homes have been well maintained and recently updated. The homes centered around the Starmount Country Club, with its championship golf course tend to be newer, larger and with garages. Home values range from 500k to 1 million plus based on factors such as proximity to the golf course. An HOA is not even necessary, since the homeowners take great pride and care of their homes. Since this is an established neighborhood, mature trees provide ample shade so you can walk year round and enjoy the seasonal changes. If you’re looking for churches, it won’t be dicult to nd one, as they have several to choose from in the immediate area. Due to the educational opportunities from kindergarten through college, this area is highly desirable. You have access to seven local colleges and universities like the University of NC, Greensboro College, Bennett College for Women and Guilford College. I also give this area bonus points for being close to downtown Greensboro where they have endless festivals and farmers markets throughout the year. The Amtrak station and the Piedmont Triad International Airport are both within an easy 15 minute drive.

This community provides plenty of places to relax, exercise, and play for local residents. You can take an easy day hike or have a family picnic while the kids play at one of the numerous open play areas. Hamilton Lakes, a large neighborhood park with more than 60 acres of natural wooded area, has about 2 miles of trails to run or walk and a stream. Other close parks include: Lake Daniels Park, The Bog Garden, Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden, which is a 7.5-acre botanical garden. My personal favorite is the Greensboro Arboretum with its luscious landscaping.

For the water enthusiast, there are ample lakes drivable within 30 minutes or less to satisfy your recreational needs. If your playtime includes shing or toys like: jet skis, boats, paddle boards, canoes and kayaks then the larger lakes like Randleman Lake, Lake Townsend and Lake Brandt will suit your needs.

It’s easy to see the value of living in the highly desirable community of Starmount Forest with its beautiful homes, amenities and location.

Hi, it’s Jeff Valentino. In 2019 my 2 sons and I packed up and moved to Winston Salem from the suburbs of Chicago. We didn’t know one person here. I wished there was a resource for people like me who are considering a similar move, so I decided to make one!
