Strawberries are in season and delicious in the spring. Grab the kids, your camera, and a bucket and head to one of the local farms for strawberry picking. The strawberries are super sweet and juicy (you may even have a stain on your shirt to prove it). You only knew strawberries could taste this good once you eat the ones at the local farms. It will ruin grocery store strawberries for you forever.
Greenhouse tomatoes and strawberries come first in the spring, so it’s also a good time of year for tomato lovers. Live like a local and enjoy a Sunday afternoon tomato sandwich with mayo, salt, and pepper on white bread (don’t knock it till you try it).
Rudd Farm, a fourth-generation family farm just outside Greensboro, is one of our favorite places for strawberries and tomatoes. It’s one of the most consistent farms in Guilford County, with options to pick fruits and veggies – a great family fun outing. Information on Rudd Farm and other farms in the Greensboro area are provided below.
As long as Strawberries are limited, as they are at the beginning of the season, some locations are only doing drive-thrus. Be sure to check before you get your kids excited about picking fresh fruit in a field!
